Depending on where you live on the island, you know how bad traffic on H-1 is getting into and out of town everyday.

Being stuck in traffic for hours, leaving extra early or staying late to try to avoid the worst congestion, or just being frustrated when you're not moving.  Check out our Top 5 Reasons for Rail- rail can be good for you.  Less stress due to congestion, less time stuck in traffic, less complication to your busy life!

Today’s Construction Workshop: An Infrastructure Contractor’s Open House, held at the Blaisdell Center, was a great success with several hundred people in attendance.  Mayor Hanneman started out the morning by stressing the opportunities for large and small companies to collaborate.

“The magnitude of this nearly $4 billion project means that we will have to rely on the talents and resources of firms that come to us from the national and international arenas.  We will also depend on homegrown talent and expertise and our proven construction industry workforce.  Large firms bring with them capacity and new perspectives.  Smaller companies come to the table with first hand knowledge of Honolulu and incomparable boots on the ground experience.  Combining these resources makes for powerful partnerships which will serve Honolulu’s rail transit well.”

Next, attendees were able to hear about: the project alignment and stations; project implementation schedule; potential civil packaging and procurement process; guideway contract components and construction features; maintenance facility components and construction features; and, station components and construction features during the morning workshop session.

During the afternoon, project team members and attendees participated in Project Sessions for consultation with individual companies.

We would like to thank everyone who attended and assisted in this successful event!
