HART Presents New Category in Local Olelo Youth Video Competition
The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) issues a call for entries to all public and private school students, grades K - 12, to participate in its first ever-presented category as part of Olelo Community Media's 9th Annual Youth Xchange Video Competition. HART will present this year's transportation category titled "Mobility for Future Generations" - asking students how Honolulu's new 20-mile elevated rail system will help improve our island's mobility and benefit future generations.
The Youth Xchange Video Competition, touted as the state's largest, attracts more than 500 video entries annually with over 2,000 students and teachers participating statewide.
Video entries should be produced in a public service announcement (PSA) format in either a 30-second, one-minute or two-minute length. All entries are required to be submitted to 'Olelo Community Media by March 1, 2012.
As part of HART's community outreach efforts to connect with video students and multi-media program teachers, project staff will be visiting schools island wide to promote the video competition's newly presented category and provide insight for entries.
The grand prizewinner of the category will win a Sony video camera for his or her school from Olelo Community Media and special recognition from HART. Second and third place winners will also receive award certificates as part of the program. Olelo Community Television will present a formal award ceremony on May 13, 2011 at the Ihilani Resort & Spa to recognize finalists and winners.
HART will feature its category's award winning entries and student submissions on its new youth website and air the PSAs during its monthly newsmagazine TV show 'Honolulu on the Move" on Olelo Channel 54.
